There’s another star in the making for Team Lakay.
Jerry “The Bokodian Warrior” Olsim has continued to impress in Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series. He is undefeated in his six-bout career, with four wins coming in ONE Championship’s developmental league.
His latest outing was certainly an impressive one.
Olsim came away with a unanimous decision victory over South Korea’s Myeong Gu Kim at OWS 6 last Thursday, 20 June in Singapore.
In addition to that, both athletes were given a ‘Warrior Bonus’ for putting on a show in the co-main event.
With Olsim’s continuous development, Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao believes that he is already seeing the future of his stable.
“First and foremost, I congratulated him for a job well done and a great display of athleticism. Then I told him to just keep on training,” Sangiao said.
“Considering that he’s fairly young, I know he’ll go places. He is a star in the making. He’ll be a star in ONE if he continues striving.”
Olsim, however, did not get the contract to the main roster that was promised to the most impressive athlete of the night.
That was awarded to Mongolian knockout artist Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg, who stopped Hyunjin Lee in the main event.
Though Olsim will have to wait for his debut on the main roster, Sangiao urges his young student to remain patient.
“As they say, if you want to be the best, you have to train with the best. This is a huge development for Jerry,” the coach said.
“I always remind him that the key to being a champion is training, training, and training. That should be every day so he can work on his weaknesses.”
