CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – An ambulance collided head-on with a delivery truck yesterday, killing three passengers and injuring three others in Barangay Ili Norte, San Juan, La Union.
Killed were Cecilia Hufano, 54, of Viente Reales, Valenzuela City; Samuel Hufano, 59, of Barangay Pao Norte, San Fernando City, La Union; and Jessie Acorda, 49, of Valenzuela City.
Injured were Paulino delos Santos, the 62-year-old ambulance driver; Descyrie Hufana, 15, of Viente Reales, Valenzuela City and a still unidentified woman.
The truck driver, Sebastian Torretio, 51, of Urdaneta, Pangasinan and an unnamed helper escaped unharmed.
Before the accident, the ambulance, owned by the Valenzuela City government, had just picked up a patient in a hospital in Batac, Ilocos Norte and was on its way back to Valenzuela.
Police said the truck allegedly took the opposite lane, triggering the collision.
