In a bid to respond better to the need for safe water for Filipinos in the countryside, the Local Water Utilities Administration is streamlining its project development process for water districts across the country.
In a recent forum in Davao City, LWUA officials led by acting Administrator Jeci Lapus explained a faster way of processing loan proposals to heads of water districts in Mindanao.
Lapus said it would now only take a few weeks for a loan to be processed from the time of request to approval as long as they have all the requirements, a major improvement from when it took months for a loan to be approved.
Loan requirements include business plans, cash flow, and technical data, among others, all of which have been simplified, according to Lapus.
The LWUA chief also added that water districts can now track the status of their loan application in the LWUA website.
The move heeded the clamor of water districts for a more efficient system of approving loan and project proposals.
Early last year, Lapus already started making project development cycle faster by cutting it from 200 to 100 working days. Aside from this, Lapus had also slashed loan interest rates from eight percent to four percent.
