A four-year-old boy died after he was accidentally hit by a police patrol car while playing on a street in Pasay City Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Camelo Cagoco.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 4:10 p.m. on Kapitan Ambo St.
Police Corporal Ramil Avecilla II, 34, of the Pasay police Baclaran Police Community Precinct, was driving a Mitsubishi Montero police patrol car on Kapitan Ambo St. when upon reaching Pasadena Restaurant, the car’s right front wheel accidentally ran over the victim who was playing on the street.
Cagoco was brought to the Pasay City General Hospital where he died.
Pasay police chief Police Col. Bernard Yang said Avecilla failed to notice the victim who apparently ran in front of the car while he was driving. He added that the police officer was not driving fast.
Yang said that the Pasay police will shoulder the expenses for the victim’s burial. (Dhel Nazario and Jean Fernando)
