President Duterte has appointed new government officials, including Jail Chief Supt. Allan Iral as the new chief of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and retired military Gen. Ricardo Morales as Philippine Health Insurance Corp. board member.
The President signed the appointment paper of Iral as BJMP chief with the rank of Jail Director last June 25. Iral, who has served as BJMP officer-in-chief since March, takes the place of Jail Chief Supt. Deogracias Tapayan who has retired from the service.
Iral previously worked as director of the BJMP regional offices in Davao and Central Visayas.
The President appointed Morales as PhilHealth board member representing the indirect contributors.
In his appointment paper signed last June 25, the retired Army general will serve the unexpired term that started last July 1, 2018 and will end on June 30, 2019.
Morales has been chosen by the President to lead the PhilHealth amid the fund irregularities Philippine Health Insurance Corp., according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Apart from Iral and Morales, the President has designated businessman Amable Aguiluz V as his special envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
Also appointed was Lourdes dela Cruz as Deputy National Statistician of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Other new appointees are Jon Castro, Clark Development Corp. board member; and Woodrow Maquiling and Rowena Montecillo, Directors IV of the Department of Tourism. (Genalyn Kabiling)
