A former acting chief of the Department of Social Welfare and Development was sworn in by Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones as an undersecretary of the DAR.
Virginia Orogo replaces David Erro, who served as undersecretary for policy, planning, and research, based on her appointment paper signed by President Duterte last June 13.
Prior to her appointment as DAR undersecretary, Orogo was acting chief at the DSWD and served as the agency’s undersecretary for special concerns.
She had also worked as deputy national program director for operations of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program since March 2018.
4Ps is the government’s flagship poverty-alleviation program implemented by the DSWD, which provides conditional cash grants to impoverished families to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children below 18-years-old.
In her stint at the 4Ps, Orogo was in-charge of the operations of the program.
She was also tasked to supervise the Pantawid National Program Management Office and ensure the attainment of the program’s objectives in line with the DSWD’s vision, mission, and organizational outcomes.
Orogo also served as alternate chairperson for the Inter-Country Adoption Board and co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
