Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon and Brandon “The Truth” Vera will be the Filipino standouts who will be representing the country in the organization’s 100th event, ONE: CENTURY on 13 October at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the huge announcement in his social media on Sunday evening, exciting fans from all over the world with yet another blockbuster card.
Belingon will be battling Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes for the fourth time as they dispute the ONE Bantamweight World Title anew after their third match ended with a disqualification win for the Brazilian.
Vera, on the other hand, will get his dream match.
The ONE Heavyweight World Champion will be battling two-division World Titlist Aung La N Sang for the ONE Light Heavyweight World Title.
“ONE Championship will be celebrating its 100th show by throwing the biggest event in history (yet again) on October in Tokyo,” Sityodtong said.
It’s a loaded card once again, as World Champions will be pitted with one another from top to bottom.
ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee will once again be battling ONE Strawweight World Champion, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, this time for Lee’s belt.
If things go well for Team Lakay, then Belingon won’t be their only representative in the event.
With the finals of both the ONE Lightweight and Flyweight World Grand Prix set for that event, then two more athletes from the fabled stable could be battling in Japan.
Danny “The King” Kingad will be battling Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov in the semifinals of the Flyweight tournament while Honorio “The Rock” Banario looks to make the most out of his second chance when he takes on Timofey Nastyukhin in the semis of the Lightweight Grand Prix.
If they both win at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES this August, then they’ll be joining the century-mark show of The Home Of Martial Arts.
“I plan to add a few more megabouts to ONE: Century,” Sityodtong added.
The ONE Super Series World Grand Prix Finals will also be on the event, while local Japanese fans will be up for a treat as Shooto and Pancrase World Champions will also be slated to compete.
