4 p.m. – Marinerang Pilipinas vs Foton
6 p.m. – Petron vs PLDT
MALOLOS CITY – After a southern trip, the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference heads north as Petron tests the mettle of PLDT Home Fibr at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center here.
Action fires off at 6 p.m. following the battle between winless Marinerang Pilipina and Foton in the first match at 4 p.m. of this prestigious women’s club tourney bankrolled by Team Rebel Sports, SOGO, Eurotel, PCSO, Cocolife, UCPB Gen, Mueller, Senoh, Asics, Bizooku and One Sport.
Billed as the team to beat for winning the title of this battle that also has ESPN5 and Kapatid TV5 as broadcast partners for the past two years, the Blaze Spikers wasted no time in making its presence felt as they raced to three consecutive victories early on.
But its run was snapped by bitter rival F2 Logistics which pulled off a four-set win.
Kalei Mau, the prolific Filipino-American spiker from University of Arizona, asserted her dominance while Aby Marano, Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy delivered glowing numbers for the Cargo Movers, who have yet to lose in six matches.
Although Petron managed to overcome that loss by clobbering Cignal in five sets, head coach Shaq Delos Santos is still egging on his wards to use it as a motivation to do better in their next few games.
“What we want right now is to focus on what is ahead of us, which is PLDT. We don’t want to preoccupy ourselves with things that are not within our control,” said Delos Santos, who will bank anew on Frances Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mika Reyes, Remy Palma and Sisi Rondina.
