BACOLOD CITY – A policeman allegedly shot his daughter to death inside their house in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last Sunday.
Killed was April May Ege, 22.
Lt. Col. Gregorio Galsim, city police chief, said Policen Staff Sgt. Levi Ege, 54, went home to eat lunch when an argument ensued between him and his daughter.
Galsim said the cop’s partner heard the victim telling her father to put something on the table, then a gunshot followed.
Galsim said the victim succumbed to a lone bullet wound on the head.
Neighbors called for police assistance and the victim’s father was arrested inside their house.
Recovered from the scene were a deformed slug and a fired bullet of a 9mm caliber pistol.
Police also recovered from the suspect his Glock 17 service firearm with a magazine loaded with four ammunition.
Galsim said parricide charges are being readied against the suspect who is detained at Dumaguete City Police Station.
He will also be charged for his administrative offense, Galsim said.
Galsim said the suspect denied the allegations against him, claiming it was just an accident.
We will continue to investigate if it was intentional or a case of accidental firing, Galsim said.
The suspect, whose been in the police service for 23 years, is assigned as a radio operator at the police station. He has no record or complaint for violence. (Glazyl Masculino)
