An alleged notorious drug pusher was killed in a shootout during a buy-bust operation along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Dalandanan, Valenzuela City, Tuesday night.
Police identified the slain suspect as Federico Velasco alias “Manok,” a resident of the area.
Elements of the Valenzuela City Police Station Intelligence Branch and the Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the sting at about 7:15 p.m.
According to a report, a poseur-buyer bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P200 from Velasco.
However, the suspect reportedly sensed that he was being entrapped. He then drew his short firearm and shot the poseur-buyer twice in his left thigh.
The back-up operatives retaliated and hit Velasco in different parts of his body.
Both the suspect and the poseur-buyer were rushed to Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital, but Velasco was pronounced dead on arrival at about 7:17 p.m.
Ten sachets of suspected shabu and P300 in cash were retrieved from the suspect.
Also recovered from the crime scene were a caliber 357 revolver loaded with four live ammunition and two fired cartridge cases inside its chamber.
The seized pieces of evidence were brought to the Northern Police District (NPD) Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s body was brought to an NPD-accredited morgue for autopsy.
Investigation is ongoing. (Minka Tiangco)
