Creamline skipper Alyssa Valdez expects a much intense match against PetroGazz on Saturday in Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference.
While Valdez credited her team’s efforts in their 24-26, 25-16, 25-16, 25-22 Game 1 victory on Wednesday, she couldn’t discount the fact the strength of their opponents.
“Actually, it’s been a while na intense ang Finals. Ang katapatan mo veterans, ang katapatan mo masyadong malalakas,” said Valdez.
Creamline is playing in the finals for the third straight time, and another win would establish itself as one of the successful teams in the league.
But Valdez knew it’s going to be tougher after a dramatic finish in Game 1, which she referred to as “breaks of the game.”
With Creamline at matchpoint, PetroGazz’s Cherry Nunag committed an overreaching violation that led to their downfall.
“Lahat ng preparation paghahandaan namin sa Game 2. Kitang-kita naman sa latter part of the set na very eager yung PetroGazz, andun yung passion nila and for sure, dadalhin nila yun sa second game,” said Valdez, who finished with 16 points the last time.
Expected to step up for PetroGazz are Janisa Johnson and Wilma Salas, who combined for 38 points in Game 1.
