BIÑAN CITY – Reigning champion Petron looks to end its first round campaign on a high note when it tackles Sta. Lucia in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Saturday at the Alonte Sports Arena here.
Game time is at 6 p.m. with the Blaze Spikers going for their sixth win in seven games in the prestigious women’s club tourney bankrolled by Team Rebel Sports, SOGO, Eurotel, PCSO, Cocolife, UCPB Gen, Mueller, Senoh, Asics, Bizooku and One Sport
Prior to that, Marinerang Pilipina hopes to stop the bleeding when it takes on Cignal at 4 p.m.
But barging into the win column in this tourney that also has ESPN5 and Kapatid TV5 as broadcast partners wouldn’t be easy.
The HD Spikers is coming in hungry after losing their fourth straight loss to Foton, 27-25, 23-25, 20-25, 19-25, late Tuesday at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Bacoor City.
In that match, Jaja Santiago took over, erupting for 29 points while Dindin Santiago, Maika Ortiz and Elaine Kasilag all had impressive performances to give the Tornadoes their fourth win in seven matches.
Still, all eyes will be on Petron.
With their bitter rival F2 Logistics wrapping up the first round with its seventh win, the Blaze Spikers are looking to have a strong finish to build momentum entering the second round next week.
The Blaze Spikers continue to bank on their depth and all-star rotation of Frances Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mika Reyes, Bernadeth Pons, Rem Palma, Rhea Dimaculangan, Buding Duremdes and Sisi Rondina.
