A former councilor of Sasmuan town in Pampanga wanted for carnapping through “rent-tangay” modus was arrested by the police in Quezon City on Tuesday.
Presented during a press conference at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was suspect Glendy Nacu, 39, of Barangay Sto. Tomas, Sasmuan.
Nacu’s arrest stemmed from the complaints of “Maria,” 52, of Antipolo City, and Gina Macaya, 55, of Valenzuela City. They reported to QCPD’s Talipapa Police Station the alleged carnapping incident.
The two women also revealed that Nacu has a pending warrant of arrest for carnapping after he took Maria’s new Mitsubishi Mirage last year.
Capt. Manuel dela Cruz of QCPD Anti-Carnapping (ANCAR) Unit said Nacu would befriend his target victims first before renting their vehicles and then sell them.
One of the victims, Maria, said she was in denial at first that Nacu could take away her then newly-released car as he was a good friend.
“We became friends in Pampanga for a couple of months only but he’s so good to pretend that he’s kind that’s why I trusted him a lot,” Maria, who refused to reveal her identity, said in an interview.
Maria said Nacu borrowed her car in July 2018 and would always update her for the first three days that he was in Bataan to relax and forget all his problems.
But that’s the last time she heard from him, prompting her to report the incident to authorities.
Macaya also revealed that she was victimized by the suspect after Maria. (Alexandria San Juan)
