Reigning national junior champions Jeth Romy Morado of Far Eastern University and Vic Glysen Derotas of National University lead a star-studded field in the first Tempo Inter-Schools Rapid Chess Championships presented by Manila Prince Hotel on July 20.
The two international masters-elect will compete against other titled players in the one-day, seven-round Swiss System event staking a total cash pot of P100,000.
Among the titled players entered are IM-elect Dale Bernardo, National Master Darry Bernardo, FIDE Master Alekhine Nouri, NM Kyle Rhenzi Sevillano, WIM-elect Shanai Mae Mendoza, WCM Samantha Umayan and FM John Merill Jacutina, all of Far Eastern University.
Others entered are WFM Jia Allaney Doroy of National University, WNM Francois Marie Magpily of Makati National High School and WIM Antoinette San Diego of Dela Salle University.
The FIDE-rated event will be held at the grand ballroom of the Manila Prince Hotel, a 300-room business hotel located at the corner of United Nations Avenue and San Marcelino Street.
