A 15-year-old boy went into a stabbing spree inside a school in Quezon City, wounding five Grade 9 students on Tuesday afternoon.
Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, chief of Quezon City Police Station 6, said suspect “Gabo,” also a Grade 9 student of Batasan National High School, is now under custody of a reformation center in the city.
Initial investigation revealed that one of the victims, “Glen,” 15, approached the suspect during their afternoon break around 4:30 p.m. to have a rematch of their basketball game last Sunday where “Gabo” lost.
The suspect got irked and repeatedly punched “Glen” on his face and head
Not contented, “Gabo” pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed “Glen” who ran along the school corridor where the suspect also attacked other students.
The victims, aged 15 to 17, as well as the suspect were immediately brought to the hospital.
Four of the victims sustained minor stab wounds while the other one was stabbed near his liver, police said.
Police failed to recover the kitchen knife used by the suspect.
Meanwhile, authorities are looking into possible liability of the school as well as the duty security guard on why the boy was able to bring a weapon inside school premises. (Alexandria San Juan)
