AFTER quite a while, ngayon lang uli magbibida sa isang pelikula si Sunshine Cruz via “Malamaya” (The Color of Ash), isang finalist ng Cinemalaya 2019 slated to run from Aug. 2-11 sa CCP Theaters at Aug. 7-13 sa select Ayala and Vista Cinemas.
Isa itong sexy romance film about love and art, produced by Spears Films, ALV Films and Cine Likha, at directorial debut ng dalawang female directors na sina Danica Sta. Lucia at Leilani Chavez.
The story takes viewers on a sensual journey through the eyes of Sunshine’s Nora, a 45-year old unmarried visual artist who is in an undefined relationship with a fellow artist named Jim (Raymond), a potter who is recovering from the death of his wife.
Nora’s dull and uninspired life takes a colorful turn when she meets Migs (Enzo) a photographer. The attraction between the two is instant. They will embark on a passionate love affair that ignites their respective lives and artistic endeavors.
“Whatever they asked me to do, I willingly did because I know I will be well taken cared of,” reasons the newest indie sensation.
Dagdag pa niya, “The mere fact na Cinemalaya ang project na ito and directed by women, solved na ako. This time, I am being given a chance to show my skills not just my body.”
“Malamaya” is a big break for Enzo na nagsimula sa TV and he wishes to be known as a serious actor.
After its Cinemalaya 2019 run ay may wide commercial theatrical release rin ang “Malamaya” simula Aug. 14 in cinemas nationwide.
