More than P6-million worth of suspected shabu was seized from six alleged drug pushers in two separate buy-bust operations in Bacolod City the other day and yesterday.
Police Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, director of the Western Visayas police, said the suspects were arrested in Barangays Alijis and Banago.
Pamuspusan said his men arrested Ryan Benemile, Chris Kohn Esmedia, Alberto Pastera, and Wegene Nacal in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Alijis at around 4 a.m. yesterday.
Seized from them were 405 grams of shabu with a street value of P5 million.
A day earlier, police arrested Regina Oro and Sam Aguirre after they yielded 100 grams of shabu with a street value of P1.2 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banago.
Police have intensified operations against illegal drugs in Western Visayas.
“Our anti-drugs operations will be relentless until we were able to stamp out illegal drugs problems in the region,” said Pamuspusan.
The Philippine National Police has been very aggressive in the campaign against illegal drugs as they see a direct relationship between the crime rate and illegal drugs abuse.
Most of those allegedly engaged in criminal activities, particularly robbery, are drug users who want easy money to sustain their illegal drugs use. (Aaron Recuenco)
