President Duterte is not yet done unleashing his wrath on the Bureau of Customs.
Duterte revealed last night that 100 more BoC personnel face axe for alleged corrupt practices.
Duterte, at the inauguration of the Candon City, Ilocos Sur bypass road, said that while corruption by officials and employees of the BoC is nothing compared to that committed by rich people with connections to government officials, he still has to do something about it.
“’Yung mga mayaman. ‘Yung mga mayaman na may koneksyon sa gobyerno. Bilyon yung kanila,” he said. “Yung mga Customs, wala ‘yan. But I have to kick them out. Sixty-four of them will be terminated next week, and 100 is coming,” he added.
Duterte earlier this month revealed that 64 Customs officials and employees have been relieved of their duties as they undergo investigation for corruption allegations.
Last week, around 50 of them went to Malacañang and met the President. According to presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, Duterte stressed to his visitors that there is no room for corruption under the present administration. (Argyll Geducos)
