Sta. Lucia finally halted its 10-game losing skid with a 25-17, 25-19, 31-29 victory over Marinerang Pilipina on Thursday in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Amanda Villanueva and Pam Lastimosa fired 13 and 11 points for the Lady Realtors, who improved their standings to 2-10 and whose other triumph also came at the expense of the Marinera Spikers in opening day, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.
Villanueva highlighted her performance with nine kills and four blocks while Lastimosa also sizzled in the defensive end with 10 digs.
Glaudine Troncoso also made her presence felt, coming off the bench late in the third set to deliver the killer blows that shattered Marinera’s resolve.
Sta. Lucia needed four match points after falling into errors until Troncoso scored a kills followed by Judith Abil’s attack error that ended the match in the Lady Realtors’ favor.
Marinera fell to its ninth straight defeat despite Abil scoring 13 points.
