Suspended PBA star Calvin Abueva became a subject of another controversy after being accused of domestic abuse by his wife in a series of posts made on social media Saturday.
Sam Abueva said that the enigmatic Phoenix Pulse cager committed violent acts against her and their children in their home in San Juan City recently.
She had earlier made revelations of Abueva’s misconduct with a series of Instagram posts that included screenshots of CCTV footages supporting her claims.
Among the incidents include Abueva hitting his wife despite being pregnant for the past 32 weeks.
Allegations of adultery were also revealed, with Sam telling viewers that Abueva failed to provide child support to two women he impregnated during a brief separation last year.
“Hindi niyo masisikmura kung papaano niya ako saktan at papaano niya saktan mga anak ko,” Sam Abueva said during her live video posted on Instagram.
Sam actually did the tell-all video using Abueva’s official Instagram account “calvinabuevaofficial,” even answering queries of curious netizens.
Abueva was quick to deny his wife’s claims using a new account “abuevacalvinthebeast.”
“Lahat ng mga nandun (sa old Instagram ko) is kababalaghan at walang katotohan,” said Abueva, who later made a series of profanity-laced videos in response to the allegations.
His off-court issues comes after a series of controversies that put his basketball career on hold.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial suspended Abueva indefinitely in early-June for making a lewd gesture at actress Maika Rivera, the girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Ray Parks Jr., and for hitting TNT KaTropa import Terrence Jones with a clothesline.
Earlier this week, Abueva was caught playing in a barangay league in Montalban, Rizal, much to the dismay of Phoenix management.
That appearance made the Games and Amusement Board to ponder on the possibility of revoking Abueva’s professional license.
