Aaron Black registered a triple-double for the second straight game as AMA Online Education pulled away late for a 110-92 win over newcomer iWalk in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The son of PBA great and current Meralco coach Norman Black had 26 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists as the Titans bounced back from a heartbreaking 106-105 loss to Asia’s Lashes Tomas Morato last July 25.
Black became just the third player in D-League history to register two career triple-doubles, joining Mike Tolomia and Jeron Teng.
Coach Mark Herrera also got a big showing from Dennis Santos, who fired a game-high 32 points spiked by five three-pointers while Black’s former Ateneo teammate Vince Tolentino posted 14 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in his debut.
Ryusei Koga scored 18 points, Bernie Bregondo had 15 points and 20 rebounds and Wowie Escosio made 14 points and eight rebounds but iWalk failed to secure the win in its debut.
iWalk pulled within four, 87-83, on Escosio’s layup with under six minutes to go in the fourth, only for AMA to counter with eight straight points courtesy of Luke Parcero, Tolentino and Santos.
Santos ended that run with a three-pointer, 95-83, 4:55 remaining. (JONAS TERRADO)
