Manila Mayor Isko Moreno appealed to hospital employees in the city government to always give their best smile when rendering services.
This, after he received complaints from patients regarding hospital workers who barely smile during their duty.
“If you cannot be nice and give a service with a smile to those seeking hospital services, you are free to leave,” he said.
“Makisuyo naman, nasa frontline kayo ng gobyerno in delivering health services. Alam niyo, mahirap maging mahirap lalo na kung me sakit ka na ang tanging puhunan mo ay lakas ng katawan tapos bigla kang mahihirati sa ospital,” he added.
The mayor said as public servants providing health care, there must be room for maximum patience.
“Kailangan natin bilang kawani ng pamahalaan ng mahabang pasensiya. Totoo nakakapagod, pero pinasok natin ‘to eh. This is public service. Eh ano ba naman ‘yung konting ngiti?,” he said.
He also urged health workers to try placing themselves in the shoes of the poor residents who seek help from public hospitals, stressing that if these sick people had money, they will not go to public hospitals.
“Konting ngiti lang di naman nakakapagod ngumiti eh,” he added. (Erma Edera)
