ARCHRIVALS Petron and F2 Logistics clash today in a rematch of last year’s finals in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Match is at 4:15 p.m. with the Cargo Movers staking their unbeaten record against the defending champions.
Petron, meanwhile, seeks a different outcome from its first-round encounter where it yielded to F2 Logistics, 25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 25-19 – its only loss so far.
Toting an 11-1 record behind the Cargo Movers’ 11-0 mark, the Blaze Spikers racked up nine straight wins including a 25-12, 25-17, 25-9 drubbing of Marinerang Pilipina two days back.
Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons will continue to sizzle at the attack line after steering the Blaze Spikers the last time with help coming from Aiza Pontillas, Mika Reyes, Denden Lazaro and veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
Also out to parade its formidable lineup are the Cargo Movers, who boast of Fil-American hitter
along with Ara Galang, Aby Maraño, Majoy Baron and libero Dawn Macandili.
Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos is thrilled at the opportunity to get back at F2 tossers.
“We’re excited to play against them and it’s going to be an exciting match for sure,” said Delos Santos, whose wards dethroned the Cargo Movers in 2017.
“But like any other game, everything starts in practice. We need to have good preparation to have a better performance.”
F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus agreed, saying that their game doesn’t mean a thing because their ultimate goal is to regain the title.
“If they will come at the game prepared, so are we,” said de Jesus, a proud owner of 11 UAAP titles.
Meanwhile, PLDT Home Fibr tries to bounce back from a 25-23, 20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-9 loss to Cignal on Tuesday in its 7 p.m. tussle with Generika-Ayala.
