GHOSTING has become trendy anew as expression, no thanks to an ongoing controversy involving several known showbiz personalities.
Supposedly, one of them used the, ahem, “art” in ditching his girlfriend, simply stopping all kinds of communication without warning or explanation, in an effort to win the favour of another.
Now, we don’t know if the trend has rubbed off on TV writers but ghosting of the conventional kind has also made its way back on the boob tube.
Set to make its debut on ABS-CBN come Aug. 12 is “The Killer Bride” starring the very delectable Maja Salvador.
She relates, “Ako dito si Camila, isang simpleng babae na may simpleng pangarap na magugulo ang buhay matapos mahulog ang loob kay Vito na ginagampanan naman ni Geoff Eigenmann.”
It may sound like your typical romance drama but Maja explains, “May twist ito, hindi siya simpleng love story.”
She went on, “Marami ang tututol sa pag-iibigan nina Camila at Vito, hanggang darating ang pangyayari na magkakaroon ng malaking iskandalo kung saan makukulong ang character ko.”
The story doesn’t end there, of course.
Says Maja, “Parang mawawala ang character ko then sabay magkakaroon ng tsismis sa bayan na ‘yung nga, may gumagalang babae na nakasuot ng damit pangkasal, ‘yung killer bride.”
Is she the killer bride?
“Ayoko sabihin. Basta panoorin ninyo,” she let out with a naughty smile.
Also starring in the series is Janella Salvador who is now all grown up and quite hot.
She is thankful to have been given the chance to renew her acting career following a sabbatical.
“It’s been awhile and akala ko talaga hindi na ako makakabalik,” she imparts. “Thankful ako sa producers ng show, sa ABS-CBN na they still believe in me. I think ‘Killer Bride’ is a great comeback vehicle for me.”
Janella is paired with Joshua Garcia in the show.
“Matagal ko na siyang gusto makatrabaho and I’m thankful na siya ang naging kapareha ko,” Janella says of Joshua who, typically, echoed the same.
“Maraming plano na pagsamahin kami dati na naudlot,” he mutters. “Ngayon, sa wakas, natuloy na. Masaya, masarap katrabaho si Janella.”
Asked about their characters on the show, Janella put forth, “Ako rito si Emma, isang misteryosong babae na magkakaroon ng importanteng koneksyon kay Camila.”
Joshua, on the other hand, simply describes his character Elias as one “na may gusto kay Emma.”
Asking them for the identity of the titular character proved futile.
“Ayoko maging spoiler,” remarks Janella. “Panoorin ninyo na lang. First few weeks I’m sure makikilala ninyo siya.”
Also part of the “The Killer Bride” are Dominic Ochoa, Loren Burgos, Alexa Ilacad, Eric Nicolas, Keanna Reeves, Eddie Gutierrez, Aurora Sevilla, Cris Villanueva, James Blanco, Lara Quigaman, Ariella Arida, and Sam Concepcion.
