INTERNATIONAL Master downed FIDE Master Stephen Rome Pangilinan and seized the lead after three rounds in the rapid of premier 18-Under Open division of the 4th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championships in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.
Quizon was battling against FM Alekhine Nouri in the fourth round at press time.
Nouri drew with Mongolian Otgonbayar Chinguun to slip to a share of second with 2.5 points in this seven-round tournament.
Quizon also leads the standard section of the 16-Under class with 6.5 points after seven rounds ahead of Michael Concio Jr., who has six points, and Nouri, who tallies 5.5.
He will complete a golden treble if he ends up ruling the rapid and standard events following his victory in the blitz category recently.
