San Miguel Beer’s Chris Ross called TNT KaTropa import a “baby” after the two engaged in another heated moment in Game 3 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Jones avoided ejection with 5:51 left in the first quarter of the KaTropa’s 115-105 victory Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum when he gave Ross a headbutt during a break in the action.
Ross kept protesting at referees Rommel Gruta and Jimmy Mariano when Jones was only handed a Flagrant Foul 1 for the incident, a decision that eventually played in TNT’s favor.
The former NBA player kept his cool and had a major role in the 17-point comeback in the second quarter to eventually give the KaTropa a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven affair.
“He’s mentally a baby,” said Ross, who was also called a technical foul for taunting.
“They gave me a (technical) because they thought I was saying something. I think that’s BS because I didn’t turn to him and talk. I was going straight and he came in and headbutted me. I think that’s more than an F1,” he added.
Videos, however, showed Ross appearing to have said something at Jones before the incident. (JONAS TERRADO)
