Defending champion Creamline shoots for a second straight win while Choco Mucho makes its much-awaited debut when they face separate opponents on Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Cool Smashers tangle with the Motolite Power Builders at 4 p.m. while the Choco Mucho Flying Titans take oon the BaliPure Water Defenders at 2 p.m.
Also gunning a second straight triumph is Banko-Perlas in its 6 p.m. tussle with Pacifictown Army.
The Perlas Spikers showed great promise after stunning reigning Reinforced Conference champion PetroGazz Angels, 25-20, 11-25, 25-21, 25-18, also on Saturday.
Creamline made its title-retention campaign felt in Saturday’s opening after dispatching returning Air Force, 25-23, 25-20, 25-15, behind the leadership of Michele Gumabao and Alyssa Valdez.
But the Cool Smashers are wary of the Power Builders who will be spearheaded by Fil-American setter Iris Tolenada and a bevy of heavy hitters.
Tolenada reunites with former Pocari Sweat and Philips Gold teammate Myla Pablo as they join forces with a young and hungry squad composed of University of the Philippines standouts Isa Molde and Tots Carlos, and Adamson’s Ayel Estrañero and Fhen Emnas.
Meanwhile, expect Choco Mucho to make an impact with the troika of former Ateneo stars Bea De Leon, Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino out to deliver the goods.
La Salle veteran Manilla Santos-Ng also ended her retirement to join forces with Bang Pineda and Kim Gequillana.
BaliPure, for its parts, will be bannered by Grazielle Bombita and Vira Guillema. (KRISTEL SATUMBAGA)
