F2 LOGISTICS and Generika-Ayala hope to complete the semis cast when they collide against lower-ranked rivals in the quarterfinals of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
The second seeded F2 Cargo Movers collide with the seventh-seeded Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors at 6 p.m. while third-ranked Generika Lifesavers take on the Cignal tossers at 4 p.m.
The winners in the knockout stage will join early semifinalists Petron and Foton which bested their respective quarterfinal rivals on Thursday.
Eyes will be on the Cargo Movers as they gun for a semifinal date with the Foton Tornadoes, who advanced to the next round after beating PLDT Home Fibr Hitters, 16-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-12.
F2 Logistics coach Ramil De Jesus has warned his stalwarts not to be complacent, claiming the Lady Realtors have also what it takes to surprise them.
“Definitely, we won’t take them lightly. The most dangerous opponents are those with nothing-to-lose and everything-to-gain mentality,” said De Jesus, whose team finished the double-round elims with a 12-2 mark.
Fil-American spiker Kalei Mau banners the F2 crew along with Aby Maraño, Majoy Baron and Kim Fajardo as they go up against Sta. Lucia’s frontline composed of MJ Phillips, Pam Lastimosa, Amanda Villanueva, Amy Ahomiro and Jho Maraguinot.
The winner between the Generika-Cignal tiff will face defending champion Petron, which marched into the next round with an easy 25-18, 25-13, 25-11 triumph over No. 8 Marinerang Pilipina two days back.
The Lifesavers, who finished with an 8-6 record, beat the HD Spikers twice in the elims but not after going through the wringer.
In the first round, they pulled off a 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 22-25, 15-12 win and 26-24, 19-25, 26-24, 18-25, 16-14 in the second round.
Fiola Ceballos, Mary Anne Mendrez, libero Kath Arado and Patty Orendain lead Generika-Ayala against Cignal’s talent-laden lineup composed of veterans Rachel Daquis, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Janine Navarro and Ranya Musa. (KRISTEL SATUMBAGA)
