The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is investigating the ambush killing of one of its officers over the weekend.
QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., said he has already ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to speed up the resolution of the murder of MSgt. Anthony Lacson, 41, a resident of Las Piñas City.
Lacson was on his way home onboard his black motorcycle around 6 p.m. Saturday after his duty at QCPD’s Anonas Police Station (PS-9) when two motorcycle-riding armed men shot him at the corner of Anonas Road and Pajo Street in Barangay Quirino 2A.
According to a witness, one of the gunmen alighted and repeatedly shot Lacson at close range after the latter fell on the ground.
Lt. Col. Cipriano Galanida, PS-9 commander, said his men immediately responded and rushed Lacson to Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMC) where he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on his body.
The “SITG Lacson” is conducting extensive investigation to establish the identity of the gunmen and the motive behind the killing. (Alexandria San Juan)
