Apl De Ap, the former lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, will perform during the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, the Phisgoc said Tuesday.
During the formal signing rites at the House of Representatives, the Fil-Am hip-hop artis expressed his readiness and excitement to perform before his provincemates.
Born Allan Pineda in Angeles, Pampanga, more than 40 years ago, Apl De Ap and Phisgoc chairman and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano formally agreed their partnership before high-ranking officials from the PSC, POC and Phisgoc.
“This is a momentous event,” said the LA-based entertainer, adding that the event will go down as one of the most important performances in his life.
“I will be performing in my province and hosting (the SEA Games) happens (almost) every 20 years,” he added.
The newly-built track stadium at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, will be the venue of Apl De Ap’a landmark show on local shores.
The opening ceremonies of the biennial meet will be held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on November 30.
The affable Filipino-American artist will be joined by The Black Eyed Peas in the closing rites to be held at the New Clark City athletics stadium on Dec. 11.
“I’m very excited to perform and rock the stage in the opening and the closing ceremony,” said Pineda. (NICK GIONGCO)
