Five men, including a Chinese national, were apprehended after they tried to kidnap a Chinese online gaming firm worker and bribe patrolling policemen in Makati City early Wednesday morning.
Major Gideon Ines Jr., Makati Police investigation unit chief, identified the suspects as Zhaochun “Zhan Hao” Chen, 21; Mark Anthony Pareño, 39; John Muega, 24; Reyan Villanueva, 35; and Joe Marie Lavilla, 31, all residents of Olongapo City.
The cops spotted the victim, Ma Zhi Rui, male, 36, being dragged by the five suspects into a white car on Kalayaan Ave. near corner Burgos St. in Barangay Poblacion, Makati, around 2 a.m.
“Patrolling policemen saw a Chinese man being dragged along Kalayaan Avenue. They then interfered and arrested the men dragging the victim,” Ines said.
“Rui, the victim, was even handcuffed by the suspects,” he added.
Chen, according to responding policemen, even tried to bribe them with P100, 000 cash.
“Chen reportedly gave them P100,000 bribe. But they did not accept it. The 100, 000 of the suspect will be used as an evidence against them,” the investigation unit chief said.
“These men followed the victim to his house here in Makati. We learned that he’s working for a Chinese online gaming firm based in Olongapo,” he added. (Jel Santos)
