The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has launched a new program aimed at inspiring Metro Manila policemen to do good deeds and discourage them from treading the path of scalawag policing.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said that he initiated partnering with the private sector for the Pulis Magiting Program, particularly the Ayala Foundation.
For its launching, Eleazar said they chose to give the award to Patrolman Jonathan Stanley Berdon Dionisio of Manila Police District and Police Corporal Jeffrey Maneclang Javier of Southern Police District.
Dionisio went viral after he persevered in chasing a snatcher in one of the busy streets of Manila. The chase was captured by a dashcam of a motorist which went viral when it was uploaded in the social media.
Javier, on the other hand, is one of the rescuers of a man about to commit a suicide at the rooftop of a building in Parañaque.
“The program Pulis Magiting aims to recognize and provide modest rewards to policemen performing good deeds not only as public servants but more importantly as compassionate and gallant persons,” said Eleazar. (Aaron Recuenco)
