As the two major venues at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, are nearing full completion, key locations undergoing repairs and rehabilitation in Metro Manila that will serve as sites of other events during the 30th Southeast Asian Games, are also on right on track.
“The renovation and repairs are going to be done by Oct. 15,” said commissioner Arnold Agustin of the Philippine Sports Commission during the media presentation of Fil-Am rapper Apl De Ap at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) and the Philsports have been undergoing a facelift inside and out in preparation for the country’s staging of the Nov. 30-Dec. 11 sportsfest.
With just 100 days before the SEAG gets off the ground, the two new venues at Clark – the track stadium and aquatics center – are almost complete according to Phisgoc chairman and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
In fact, Filipino swimmers get the first crack at using the pool when the Philippine National Open takes place from Aug. 29-Sept. 2.
Meanwhile, the Phisgoc has set crucial meetings with major government offices whose functions and participation play a role in the success of the Philippines’ SEAG hosting.
Phisgoc Chief Executive Officer Tats Suzara said using the innermost lane of the NLEX heading to the Philippine Arena on Nov. 30—the opening of the SEAG—will be tackled.
The meeting with the Dept of Transportation is scheduled today while the same dialogue with the Department of Trade and Industry will be held on Friday.
