Tropical storm “Ineng” (international name “Bailu”) slightly intensified while moving towards extreme Northern Luzon, enhancing the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and bringing rains over the western part of Luzon and Visayas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the eye or center of Ineng was last spotted at 725 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora before noon yesterday.
The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph while moving west-northwest at 15 kph.
PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said Ineng may further intensify into a severe tropical storm but still less likely to hit the land.
Ineng intensified into a tropical depression from a low pressure area Tuesday and became a tropical storm Wednesday.
Ineng is expected to be 520 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan this morning.
Should the storm keeps to its current track, the State weather agency said Ineng will possibly exit the Philippine
Area of Responsibility tomorrow evening or early Sunday morning.
PAGASA has raised tropical cyclone warning signal No. 1 in seven areas in Northern Luzon – Batanes, Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte. (Alexandria San Juan)
