CEBU CITY – The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, dubbed as the “festival of festivals,” is set for a grand comeback as at least 40 contingents representing the various municipalities and component cities in Cebu will vie for glory on Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Marking the return of the festival after a six-year hiatus is a street dancing starting at 1 p.m. from the capitol grounds to the CCSC.
The much-anticipated ritual showdown will start at 6 p.m.
A flagship tourism and culture program of Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, Pasigarbo sa Sugbo was last held in 2012.
And for its return, the event will be free of charge. “There were suggestions to sell tickets but I said ever since, Pasigarbo has been a free event,” Garcia said.
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has tasked Police Col. Gemma Vinluan, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, to put security measures in place.
“This is such a big event and the city government will give its full support. This is the event of the province but considering that it will be held in the city, we will assist them in whatever means we can be of help,” Labella said.
