Two suspected remnants of an illegal drug group were killed in a shootout with police during a buy-bust operation in Pasig City Thursday morning.
Police said the operation also led to the seizure of a kilo of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million.
Police Col. Moises Villaceran Jr., Pasig City Police chief, identified the suspects as Jalal Salamoden and Sampiano Rason, remnants of the Buratong drug group.
“Both suspects were remnants of Amin Buratong drug group who previously operated a ‘shabu tiangge’ in Pasig few years ago,” Villaceran said.
Investigations showed that members of the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit and Pasig City Police conducted a drug bust against the duo at a gas station at the corner of Felix Avenue and Kabayanihan Street in Barangay Dela Paz at around 2 a.m.
Villaceran said the suspects shot their way out after sensing that they were transacting with authorities.
Salamoden, the back rider, shot the undercover agent before they left the area onboard a motorcycle and continued firing shots at the pursuing cops, the police chief narrated.
Authorities retaliated, killing the suspects.
Villaceran said the undercover agent was able to purchase around 400 grams of suspected shabu from the suspects.
Police seized from the duo about 600 grams of suspected shabu, a .45-caliber pistol, a .9mm pistol; assembly magazines of .45-caliber pistol and .9mm pistol, several rounds of ammunition and spent shells, and the suspects’ getaway motorcycle. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
