A two-year-old boy died after he was run over by a passing vehicle while he was resting on the road in Taguig City on Monday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Monaira N. Sabaan, a resident of Barangay Maharlika, Taguig City. He was declared dead on arrival at Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.
The suspect was identified as Charlie Mapandi, driver of a Toyota Fortuner.
Investigation showed the incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Maharlika, Taguig City.
Police said Charlie Mapandi, driver of a white Toyota Fortuner, said he did not notice the boy who was lying and resting on the street.
Mapandi told police that it was already too late to control the car which hit the boy.
Police said they could not file a case against Mapandi since the family of the victim and the suspect had an agreement because they are both Muslims. (Jean Fernando)
