Just how close was convicted rapist-murderer Antonio Sanchez to getting released from jail last week?
Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas claimed in a press conference yesterday that Sanchez’s hometown of Calauan, Laguna was already organizing a “party” to welcome him home after over two decades of incarceration.
“Ang balita po namin, the release order was dated Aug. 20 at naghahanda pa ang Calauan town ng welcome para sa kanya,” she said.
Brosas said a “personal source” told her about the party. “May nagsabi sa amin. It was a party sa town, magkakaroon ng party dahil they will welcome ‘yung pagdating ni former Mayor Sanchez.”
The lady lawmaker said the shindig was to be sponsored by the municipal government.
Brosas remains convinced that the powers that be are secretly working to have Sanchez freed.
Brosas dared the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Corrections – which manages the country’s penal system – to show Sanchez’s supposed release order.
(Ellson Quismorio)
