Two low pressure areas inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a high chance of developing into tropical cyclones within 36 to 48 hours.
Before noon yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of one of the LPAs at 110 kilometers east-northeast of Aparri, Cagayan.
It will likely bring scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains over Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Bicol.
It may develop into a tropical depression within 36 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said this LPA will cross extreme Northern Luzon. It is likely that the LPA will be already outside the PAR when it develops into a tropical depression.
The other LPA was estimated at 820 kms east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur before noon yesterday.
This particular weather system is likely to develop into a tropical depression with local name “Kabayan” within 48 hours.
Quitlong said the potential tropical cyclone near Surigao del Sur may not make landfall as of the moment.
PAGASA is not discounting the possibility that the weather disturbance may hit land, he added. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
