An American woman was barred Wednesday at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for hiding a six-day old baby boy inside her hand luggage.
Police said American passenger, Jennifer Erin Talbot, 42, of Ohio, USA, arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 before 6 a.m. and was supposed to board Delta Air flight 180 at 8:10 a.m. for her trip to the US via Narita, Japan.
According to the Bureau of Immigration, Talbot presented her passport to an immigration officer while the baby boy, born on August 29, 2019, was kept inside her black hand luggage.
Before reaching the final X-ray machine, Talbot brought out the undocumented baby from the luggage and went through the body search. She immediately proceeded to the pre-departure area waiting for the announcement of her flight.
An airline staff approached her and asked for their passports and boarding passes as she saw Talbot carrying a baby covered with her sweater. She could not present any document and boarding pass for the baby boy.
The airline staff immediately informed her supervisor and called the attention of the immigration officers who immediately invited Talbot for questioning.
Talbot was turned over to the NAIA-National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for proper filing of charges while the baby boy was given to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development until his real parents claim him.
Based on information, the foreigner came from Davao. (Ariel Fernandez)
