Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said he will soon ban the sale of addictive solvents in the city to help address the addiction of minors to the chemical which they sniff to get high and alleviate their hunger.
This, after he apprehended several boys sniffing the addictive chemical during a midnight in Manila.
During his roaming, Moreno rescued children who are using a solvent in public place. One minor was even spotted consuming the substance near a police outpost.
Moreno said he already directed the police to know the sources of the solvent in Manila.
“We are going after any store, whether it is a medical store or hardware store. It doesn’t matter to us,” he said.
“Nagbenta kayo ng solvent. Selling those, you will be treated as dealers or pushers,” Moreno warned.
Solvents have been declared by the government as a dangerous substance in 2009, and are prohibited from being sold over the counter unless they contains mustard oil, a sniffing deterrent. (Erma Edera)
