The Anti-Red Tape Authority has called on the Registry of Deeds to simplify and hasten their service after receiving complaints that processing of some applications take up to 100 days.
The anti-red tape watchdog led by Director General Jeremiah Belgica made the appeal after discovering the slow processing time during the on-the-spot checks at the Registry of Deeds of Manila and Davao City early this week.
Belgica intends to meet with the country’s registrars of deeds “to discuss their processes and to look into the possible causes of delay and inconvenience.”
“ARTA is here to help but we cannot do it without the commitment of everyone for these efforts to be felt by the people,” Belgica said. “I reiterate the message of our President to all government agencies: Simplify your services and provide a comfortable life for the Filipinos,” he addd
The Registry of Deeds, an agency attached to the Land Registration Authority, is mandated to process the registration of real property ownership.
Belgica said the anti-red tape agency discovered Registry of Deeds process some applications for land registration take as long as 100 days.
“I don’t know why it takes them 100 days…We discovered that in every Registry of Deeds, they have different processing times. That cannot be. We decided to do a spot inspection on them,” he said.
On the spot inspection of the Registry of Deeds, he said, ARTA wanted to check the compliance with the Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.
The ARTA officials found “several apparent violations” by the deeds registry in Davao City, including the slow processing time of certain ROD applications. (Genalyn Kabiling)
