A government official working in an economic office will be dismissed by President Duterte not for corruption but for supposed poor performance.
The President admitted that the female government executive fell short of the performance output compared to other officials.
“May isa pa akong tanggalin. Though she is not corrupt, but she is not in parity with the others sa performance. Handling an economic office,” Duterte said during the oath-taking of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines officials in Malacanang Tuesday.
“I have to change her. I don’t know if gusto tanggalin na lang lahat,” he added.
Duterte declined to identify the concerned official, saying he prefers to inform the person first.
“Sabihin ko muna doon sa tao na ano…Wala man ito. Sabi ko nga she’s not corrupt but I think that her performance is not really in parity with the others of the same output sa trabaho,” he said.
“It has something to do with economics. Pero kulang. Kulang talaga siya,” he added.
The President had earlier fired Jose Antonio Goitia as executive director of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission amid corruption allegations.
Malacanang explained that Goitia’s termination was in line with the President’s mandate “to eradicate graft and corruption and to ensure that public officials and employees conduct themselves in a manner worthy of public trust.”
Duterte claimed that the concerned official was saying to people he was expected to be appointed as Customs official.
“He’s telling people that he will be appointed Customs collector. And already was collecting. But other than that also connected with their work in the Pasig River,” he said. (Genalyn Kabiling)
