DAVAO CITY – Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is now looking forward to forge more partnerships and collaboration between the city and Singapore.
This after Singaporean President Halimah Yacob visited the city as part of her state visit in the country.
“As this visit stamps another milestone in our shared history, let us look forward to fruitful exchanges for the betterment and benefits of both of our nations, “ Duterte said in her message during the welcome dinner on Tuesday night at The Marco Polo Davao.
Duterte also congratulated Yacob and its constituents for its bi-centennial year celebration of their country.
In her message, Yacob also appreciated the colorful culture of the city which showed the vibrant color of the Philippines. “We enjoy so many ties with the Philippines,” she said.
The Singaporean leader said that these ties are potential to develop into a deeper cooperation, not just in the national level but also with the key cities such as Manila, Cebu City, and Davao City. “There are strong synergies for economic cooperation and business partnerships with any industry sectors,” she said.
Yacob yesterday visited the Philippine Eagle Center in Barangay Malagos to see its Biodiversity Program since Singapore and the Philippines signed a 10-year Bird Loan Agreement to allow two Philippine eagles to be housed at Jurong Park.
She also had a dialogue in Ateneo de Davao University with the youth sector in Mindanao organized by Al Qalam Institute. (Zea Capistrano)
