YOUNG actor McCoy de Leon is quite elated to play lead anew in his newest film, “G!”
He says, “Hindi naman kasi madalas na pagtiwalaan ang isang bata at baguhan na katulad ko so, nakakataba ng puso na ikaw ang ginusto nila ‘diba?”
That “G!” requires him to do more than just preen and pout is overwhelming for McCoy.
“Sobrang di ko ine-expect, nung nabasa ko ‘yung script parang, ‘Naku, paano namin gagawin to?’ Sobrang ‘talon sa bangin’ ‘yung mga eksena.”
In it, he plays Sam, a popular jock who seemingly has it all, only that he is dying of cancer.
“Malalim siya, hindi siya ‘yung typical role na magpapa-cute ka, I mean, nakaka-relate ako sa idea na bata rin ‘yung character ko pero ‘yung idea na mamatay na siya, may terminal illness siya, it’s very challenging for me,” McCoy asserts.
The 24-year-old is thankful that director Dondon Santos was there to push him to do his best.
Among more memorable scenes he did in the film was one with hottie Roxanne Barcelo.
“Kasi ‘yung character ko, he decided to create a bucket list, mga things to do before siya mamatay.
While some men would deem it a dream come true, McCoy relates he was actually filled with dread while at it.
Baka may magawa akong mali,” he laughs.
It made the whole thing a whole lot easier.
So, in the end, natapos namin ‘yung eksena na ‘di ko alam kung ano nangyari!”
From Cineko Productions, “G!” is part of the third Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, which will run in select cinemas from Sept. 13- 19.
