BACOLOD CITY – Three persons, including a woman, were killed by unidentified assailants in separate incidents in Negros island in the past two days.
In Negros Occidental, a tricycle driver was gunned down by an unidentified lone gunman in front of his house in Barangay 2, Hinigaran, last Sept. 10. Slain was Joenel Tomazar, 49.
Police Major James Latayon, town police chief, said the assailant arrived past 6 a.m. and shot the victim who was repairing his tricycle outside his house. The gunman then fled.
The victim succumbed to a lone bullet wound in the head.
In Negros Oriental, Gerson Alpida, 32, of Barangay Tanglad, Manjuyod, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Alangilanan last Tuesday.
Police records showed that the victim was sitting in a store when he was approached by an unidentified man and shot him using a .45 caliber pistol several times.
The assailant then fled on board a motorcycle.
Last Monday, Celnor Bukad, 40, of Barangay Nagbo-alao, Basay, was also killed by an unidentified man at the said village. (Glazyl Masculino)
