Malacañang said the seven undocumented Chinese nationals who were arrested for dredging in Masinloc, Zambales should be prosecuted.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement following reports of the arrest of the suspects who were said to be undocumented and illegally working as part of a ship crew from Guangzhou.
Panelo said that the suspects should be prosecuted. “It’s an illegal act and therefore should be prosecuted,” he said.
He added that the local government of Masinloc should have dealt with the issue immediately since it was reported that the illegal activity has been going on for 10 months.
“Then the local government of Zambales should take responsibility for that… The Zambales government should have done something about it,” Panelo said.
Panelo said the government should really be concerned because undocumented foreigners are able to set foot in the country.
“They are undocumented, then we should really raise concern about them. Paano sila nakakapasok dito?” he said. (Argyll Geducos)
