Marikina City Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro called on the public yesterday to report to authorities any information that would help determine the source of dead pigs retrieved from Marikina River.
“Kung meron silang impormasyon o nalalaman kung saan nanggagaling, ipaalam agad sa pamahalaan para matunton natin at yung culprit ay mapanagot natin,” Teodoro said.
Yesterday morning, Teodoro said that another dead pig was retrieved from the river in Barangay Sta. Elena.
This recovery made the total number of hog carcasses retrieved from the waterway to 56.
Teodoro has ordered the testing of pig carcasses to determine if it died due to African Swine Fever.
The City Veterinary Office said Friday that they have retrieved 55 dead pigs from various portions of Marikina River since Thursday.
