The Department of the Interior and Local Government is in the midst of arranging a deal with the Dutch government for the deportation of Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Maria Sison to the country.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año has insisted that Sison’s refugee status should be revoked due to his alleged criminal acts.
Stressing his point further, Año explained anew that a criminal cannot be considered a political refugee in obvious reference to Sison.
Accusing Sison of being a mass murderer, Año said that Sison should be made to answer for his sins including the murder of his fellow Filipinos.
The DILG chief had chided Sison, saying he is “hallucinating” for insisting that he was “absolutely protected” in his self-imposed exile in the Netherlands. Sison has been residing in The Netherlands where he has sought political asylum since 1987.
The communist leader has insisted that he cannot be arrested because he is being recognized as a political refugee. (Chito Chavez)
