Ifugao’s Carl Jammes Martin and Polomolok’s Benezer Alolod dispute the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight crown on Friday at the Mandaluyong Elementary School Gym in Mandaluyong City.
It will be a litmus test for the 20-year-old Martin who is still unbeaten in 13 bouts, 12 ending via knockout.
Dubbed “Fists of Fury”, the event is promoted by Shockpunch Promotions and Ifugao Boxing Promotions.
Martin, who hails from Hingyon, Ifugao, has fought foreign foes in his last seven bouts, stopping them all by an average of three rounds.
“Marami naman po kasi na mga matitibay na Pinoy boxers at gustong gusto ko po na makalaban ng matibay para masubukan din po ako,” said Martin upon wrapping up his training at the MP Highland Gym in Manila.
The 28-year-old Alolod is a veteran of 36 bouts and has compiled an overall record of 19-12-5, seven via stoppage.
While Alolod had 12 losses in his 10-year career, he suffered only three stoppages in those defeats.
In Thursday’s weigh-in held at the Games and Amusement Board office in Makati City, Martin weighed in at 119lbs while Alolod tallied 118lbs.
Also in the card is Philippine superbantamweight champion Mark Anthony Geraldo who will stake his national crown against Lorence Rosas of Palawan in a 12-round title bout.
